Veganism Controversy Erupts After TikToker Denied Service

Nobody ever said being a vegan was going to be easy. In fact, there may be some cases in which it complicates your life in untold ways.

One vegan that discovered this all too well was Amie-Beth Stedman. She lives in Essex, England, and she was looking forward to going out for the night with a friend.

They wanted to go somewhere with good vibes, so they selected a local restaurant, Sheesh. The problem was, Stedman is a vegan, and Sheesh is a barbecue restaurant. Perhaps you are beginning to see where this story is going.

Apparently, she had tried going to the restaurant before and thought she would just order some side items. That’s typically how she orders her food because she enjoys mixing and matching some of the smaller items from the menu.

Since they declined to allow her to only order from the sides, the 27-year-old decided to call ahead this time and see if they would accommodate her. That is where the problem really took a downturn.

She said: “I’d been to Sheesh a couple of years ago, and I’m a vegan, and they didn’t actually have anything on their main menu that was vegan. But I was thinking… Maybe I could just get some sides. Some chips and rice, all of that, and like mix it all together.”

When she contacted the restaurant, the lady said that they don’t cater to vegans. It seemed like a rather reasonable request when she explained that she understood and just wanted to get some of the sides.

The employee then came back and said: “I don’t even know why vegan would even want to come to our restaurant anyway.” It wasn’t so much that they wouldn’t cater to vegans, which she didn’t appreciate. It was the fact that the woman was so rude to her.

That is why Stedman made the video, to let people know that Sheesh was not only not vegan friendly, they were rude. She also got a lot of comments that agreed with her, saying that any restaurant should be vegan in 2023.
